About Joseph Torda
ADA Investigating Insurance Fraud in Philadelphia
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based lawyer Joseph "Joe" Torda has nearly a decade of experience and has litigated in over 40 criminal jury trials. He has handled all aspects of criminal cases, from pre-charging investigations to jury selection, for charges such as attempted murder, burglary, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. Joseph Torda has been with the Philadelphia Office of the District Attorney as an assistant district attorney since 2018, working in its Insurance Fraud Unit. He previously worked in its Charging Unit and Major Trials Unit.
Previously, Mr. Torda spent five years as an assistant state's attorney with the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney. He worked in its Circuit Felony Trial Division and County Court Misdemeanor Trial Division and also spent time as assistant chief in the County Court Misdemeanor Crimes Unit. In the latter role, he mentored and supervised more than 30 entry-level attorneys and reviewed and edited their written motions and other pleadings.
Joseph Torda earned his juris doctor at St. John's University School of Law and holds a double-major bachelor's in English and political science from the University of Vermont, where he made the dean's list seven out of eight semesters. Prior to working as an attorney, Joe Torda served one year as development coordinator with Gay Men's Health Crisis in New York, where he coordinated fundraising activities.
